Batch pre-expanders for block and shape moulding production
Batch pre-expanders are renowned for their flexible use in low and high densities. Here, the raw material is weighed in batches and expanded in the pre-expander.
The plants work fully automatic from material feeding to discharge of the complete plant. |
|
A fast adjustment to different raw materials and densities from one cycle to the next is guaranteed.

X-Line - the new generation of KURTZ pre-expanders
The new pre-expander generation X-Line was developed especially for the expansion of smallest quantities and special materials. The great advantage of the X-Line pre-expanders is the even temperature and pressure distribution within the entire expansion tank.
X-Line pre-expanders are ideally suited for special materials like materials used for the production of helmets. The fluctuations in high density ranges between 50 - 100 g/l are only ±2 g/l which is extremely low. |
|
The X-Line pre-expanders attract attention by their modern and compact design. Great value was set on a clear and efficient installation and arrangement of the individual components. All components that require maintenance are easily accessible which reduces the servicing time considerably. |

HP Pre-expanders
Kurtz developed a special system for the pre-expansion of EPS and EPP with a maximum working pressure of 2.5 bar. These kind of pre-expander can reduce the density by a volume of maximal 2.5 (so-called second stage expansion). |
|
Especially for EPE material an exact temperature control is required to achieve a density as even as possible. |
All advantages of HP pre-expanders at a glance:
- considerably reduced transport costs
- the processors can produce the densities required for their production themselves
- high flexibility in densities
- reduced storage costs
- material saving by adapting the density to the finished product
