Pre-expanding

The pre-expander forms the basis for further processing of expandable polystyrene (EPS). KURTZ pre-expansion systems are the result of the logical implementation of physical processes in machine technology, intensive exchange of experience with users and recommendations of raw material producers.

KURTZ covers the whole range of pre-expanders for all requirements of thermoplastic foam processors.With continuous pre-expanders the raw material is fed continuously into the pre-expansion tank. They are especially suitable for high material throughputs with almost the same densities in a range of 16 to 30 g/l.Batch pre-expanders for block and shape moulding production, X-Line for pre-expanding smallest quantities and HP pre-expanders for EPE and EPP.We plan and deliver silo and conveying systems according to your requirements

Technology

In the pre-expansion process, EPS granulate is filled into the pre-expander. Hot steam -as media- softens the polystyrene beads and activates the blowing agent solved in them.

Continuous pre-expanders

With continuous pre-expanders the raw material feeding into the pre-expansion tank as well as the foaming process run "continuously".

Batch pre-expander

Batch pre-expanders are renowned for their flexible use in low and high densities. Here,the raw material is weighed in batches and expanded in the pre-expander.
